We have all pondered what appetizers to serve our friends and more often that not end up within our comfort zones concocting the same old dishes. It all becomes a little predictable. I can equate it to gift giving – it takes time to give full consideration of what to buy and that brain time can lead to stress (the answer BTW is to buy books as gifts) which none of us need.
So this book by photographers Kiera and Cole Stipovich comes in very useful with its’s 225 suggestions. These bring up some interesting flavour combos such as mixed nuts with wasabi and toasted coconut, baked brie with cherry compote and macadamia nuts, strawberries filled with whipped stilton or gorgonzola or chorizo and pickled carrot stick. There are of course plentiful more standard recipes but maybe with a slight twist.
This is a great book and will definitely give you some clarity when deciding what to serve, take away a good proportion of the stress involved with entertaining and thrill your guests.
