Yesterday I wrote about some great value wines to enjoy with friends who perhaps do not appreciate wine as much as you. To balance this today I have chosen 3 wines that your wine enthusiast friends are sure to enjoy. Make sure you visit your local bother and grocer to get wonderful local produce and cook it beautifully to complement these delicious wines.

Jean-Luc Colombo Les Collines de Laure Blanc 2015 – £12.50
Originating from Marseilles, Colombo was drawn to the wines of the Rhone Valley as a student in the 1970’s. After graduation he moved there setting up a wine consultancy business before eventually establishing his own vineyards in 1994 which are now responsible for a myriad of wines. As with all wines suitable for a BBQ this displays good acidity to cut through the strong marinades and sauces. There are notes of ripe melon and apricot on the nose whilst the palate displays good structure, full flavours whilst being relatively light and good length.
Available from – Harrods, Islington Wine, The Leamington Wine Company

Robert Oatley Hancock & Hancock Shiraz/Grenache 2014 – £14.05
I love the combo of Shiraz and Grenache and love Australian wines, in fact I used to own a wine merchant specialising in high end Aussie wines so was excited to taste this wine by Chris Hancock who made some of the earlier vintages of the iconic Penfolds Grange. he set this label up with his brother to make interesting wines that were drinkable immediately whilst having the ability to age for up to 10 years. Personally I think it drinking perfectly now and full of dark cherry and plum flavours, spices and an impressive finish. Enjoy this when you put the steaks on the BBQ.
Available from – DeFINE Food & Wine, Noel Young Wines, Eagle Wines, Luvians Bottleshop, The Solent Cellar

Caliterra Tributo Malbec 2013 – £12.75
Coming from the 1000ha Caliterra Estate in the heart of the Colchagua Valley this has in oak barrels for 12 months prior to release (10% new) this wine has a lovely structure with soft tannins and is relatively full bodied. There are lots of berries on the palate and dark fruits. This would be great with most meats or even a veggie dish containing mushrooms.

Available from – Vino Wines, Hailsham Cellars, Lindley Fine Wines, Islington Wine, Brooksby Wines, Ann et Vin
